Chapter 15 - The End (Happily Ever After)

The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the evening sky over the Chesapeake Bay in brilliant shades of violet, gold, and burning crimson.
Inside the grand ballroom of the estate, a private anniversary celebration was underway.
Close friends, loyal enforcers, and trusted business partners gathered to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary.
At the center of the room, Thomasina danced in circles with her uncle-figures, laughing hysterically.
Augustus and I stood by the grand French doors leading out to the balcony, our arms wrapped around each other as we watched the celebration.
He pulled me flush against his chest, his gray eyes reflecting the warm golden candlelight of the ballroom.
“Five years of marriage,” Augustus murmured, his deep voice thick with emotion. “And every single day, I thank whatever higher power exists that I walked into that warehouse and bought you off that stage.”
I smiled, resting my head against his broad shoulder.
“You didn't buy me, Augustus,” I whispered softly. “You saved me. And I saved you right back.”
He chuckled, a rich, genuine sound, before capturing my lips in a deep, passionate kiss that made time itself stand still.
Outside, the lights of Baltimore twinkled across the harbor like a million diamonds, illuminating an empire built not on fear, but on redemption, fierce loyalty, and true, unbreakable love.
THE END.
