Chapter 6 - THE CHASE ACROSS CHICAGO

Chaos erupted in the boardroom.
Directors shouted.
Security guards rushed in, looking uncertainly between Vincent and me.
“Get out!” Vincent roared at me, his veins bulging in his neck as he lunged across the table.
Marcus stepped in front of me, drawing a concealed firearm with lightning speed.

Vincent stopped.
His chest heaved.
He looked around the room, realizing every ally he thought he owned had abandoned him the moment his crown slipped.

“Don't let him liquidate the offshore accounts.”
“Already on it,” Marcus nodded, pressing an earpiece into his ear.
I sat back in my chair, exhaling a slow, steady breath.

Bank accounts locked.
Private jets grounded.
Casinos placed under federal receivership.
And Vincent?
He had vanished into the Chicago underground.
His private phone was disconnected.

His bodyguards were scattered.
For the first time in seven years, the man who controlled everything had lost control of his own shadow.
