Chapter 14 - REBUILDING FROM THE GROUND UP

The Chicago Business Summit was packed with hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, and journalists.

I stood backstage in a sharp cream-colored blazer, adjusting my microphone.

When my name was announced, applause rippled through the grand auditorium.

I walked out onto the stage, stepping under the bright white spotlights.

I looked out at the sea of expectant faces.

“Six months ago,” I began, my voice clear and confident, echoing through the speakers.

“I believed my life was defined by the boundaries others set for me.”

“I believed that if I just waited quietly enough, worked hard enough, and fit into the schedule neatly enough, I would be safe.”

“I was wrong.”

“Safety isn't found in a cage.”

“It’s found in the courage to walk away from everything that diminishes your soul.”

The auditorium erupted into thunderous, standing applause.

People stood up, cheering, nodding, understanding every word.

I smiled, feeling a profound wave of peace wash over my spirit.

The past was buried beneath truth, justice, and survival.

And my future was brighter than I had ever dared to imagine.
