Chapter 11 - THE FINAL SHOWDOWN AT O’HARE

Midnight at the private cargo hangars of O’Hare International Airport.

Snow fell heavily across the tarmac, muffling the roar of distant jet engines.

Viktor Morena stood beside a private jet with its engines idling, waiting for Olivia to deliver the final security clearances for the Hayes shipping docks.

Instead, a single black town car pulled up to the hangar doors.

Alexander Hayes stepped out alone into the blizzard.

He wore no winter coat, just his dark suit and a black tie, looking like the grim reaper himself.

Morena’s enforcers raised their assault rifles, pointing them straight at Alexander’s chest.

“Hold your fire!” Morena laughed, stepping forward from the shadow of the jet wing.

“Well, look who finally decided to show up.”

“Where is Olivia?” Morena asked, looking past Alexander.

“Olivia is currently discovering that betrayal has a very steep price,” Alexander answered calmly, stopping twenty feet away.

“You think you can walk in here alone and take back my docks, Hayes?” Morena sneered, drawing his pistol.

“You’re a broken man. Your daughter is dead, your wife left you, and your empire is bleeding out.”

“You’re right, Morena,” Alexander said, his voice echoing over the wind.

“I am a broken man.”

“And a man with nothing left to lose is the most dangerous creature on earth.”

Before Morena could pull his trigger, the floodlights of the hangar suddenly clicked off.

Total darkness plunged the tarmac into shadow.

Then came the sound of silenced gunfire from the roof rafters.

Marcus and the elite Hayes tactical team dropped silently onto the snow behind Morena’s enforcers.

Chaos erupted in an instant.

Flashes of gunfire lit up the blizzard like summer lightning.

Morena lunged toward his private jet, but Alexander intercepted him mid-stride, tackling him hard onto the icy tarmac.

A brutal, desperate fistfight ensued in the freezing snow.

Morena swung wildly, but Alexander blocked every blow with cold, relentless precision, driving his knuckles into Morena’s jaw until the rival boss collapsed unconscious into the red-stained snow.
