Chapter 12 - The Truth Behind Isabella’s Death

Three weeks after our wedding, the final piece of Isabella Moretti’s legacy was laid to rest.

Luca and I stood together in the private memorial garden behind the estate’s chapel, overlooking the serene, rolling hills of the north valley.

A magnificent new marble monument had been erected beside Salvatore Moretti’s grave.

Carved from pure white Carrara marble, the headstone bore two names intertwined under the carved crest of a blooming rose:

ISABELLA MORETTI & CARLO BELLINI

United in Peace, Vindicated by Truth.

Luca held my hand tightly as we placed a wreath of white roses and fresh cedar at the base of the monument.

“My mother would have loved you, Claire,” Luca said softly, his arm sliding around my shoulders to pull me close against his side. “She spent her entire life fighting to build a world where our children wouldn't have to live in the shadows of cartel wars. You made that dream a reality.”

I leaned my head against his shoulder, watching Lily run through the autumn leaves near the fountain, laughing as she chased our new golden retriever puppy across the manicured grass.

Mrs. Carter walked out from the garden path, pushing my mother’s wheelchair into the warm sunlight. Evelyn looked up at the marble monument, a soft, serene smile touching her face.

“It’s a beautiful garden, Isabella,” Evelyn murmured softly to the breeze, her mind resting in absolute peace.

I looked up at Luca, my heart completely full.

The lies, the imposters, the stolen letters, and the bloodshed of the past were gone, replaced by the unbreakable foundation of a family built on truth, loyalty, and an everlasting love.

Luca kissed the top of my head, his fingers entwining with mine, our wedding rings catching the brilliant golden light of the afternoon sun.

We turned together and walked back toward the grand manor, hand in hand, stepping boldly into the bright, beautiful future we had built together.
