Chapter 10 - The Ravenridge Estate Infiltration

“Police! Drop your weapons and step away from the aircraft!” Captain Hayes’s voice boomed through a megaphone as tactical officers formed a perimeter around the helipad, their rifle lasers painting the chests of the two security guards.
The guards looked at the overwhelming force of state police rifles, slowly raised their hands, and dropped their handguns onto the concrete.
“Get on the ground! Now!” the officers ordered, pinning the guards to the deck.
Victoria Henderson stood alone near the helicopter door, her platinum hair whipping wildly in the rotor wash. Her eyes were wide with hysterical fury, her designer dress stained with mud from the lawn.
Beside her, Julian Henderson—a tall, arrogant man in a tailored tuxedo—stepped forward, his face red with outrage.
“Do you know who I am?” Julian roared over the engine noise, pointing an aggressive finger at Chief Vance. “I donate millions to the governor’s campaign! You have no legal authority to step foot on my private property without a signed federal warrant! I will have all your badges by morning!”
Arthur Vance walked forward calmly, holding up a laminated document in one hand and keeping his service weapon leveled with the other.
“Julian Henderson, this is a federal search and seizure warrant signed by Judge Morris, authorizing the immediate recovery of an abducted infant and the arrest of all conspirators in a human trafficking syndicate. Step away from the child, or you will be shot where you stand.”
Julian’s face turned from red to ash white.
Victoria, however, clutched the bundle tighter to her chest, backing toward the spinning tail rotor.
“You can’t take him!” she shrieked hysterically. “He is my son! I paid two million dollars for him! He belongs to me! His worthless biological parents gave him up!”
I stepped through the line of police officers, walking straight onto the helipad. The bitter wind stung my face, but my voice cut through the roar of the helicopter like a razor.
“I am his mother,” I said, every word dripping with cold, unshakeable authority. “And you bought stolen blood from a coward.”
Victoria stared at me, her manic expression faltering for the first time as she looked into my eyes.

“You…” she stammered. “You’re supposed to be in a hospital bed… Mark said you were sedated…”
“Mark is in handcuffs,” I said, taking another steady step forward. “And you’re going to prison for the rest of your miserable life. Hand me my son.”
