Chapter 11 - The Foreclosure On Vanessa’s Assets And Daniel’s Bankruptcy

Six months after Maya’s birth, the financial liquidation of Daniel Mercer and Vanessa Cole reached its final, brutal conclusion.

To satisfy the multi-million-dollar clawback judgments won by the Sterling Family Trust and Mercer Dynamics, the federal bankruptcy court ordered the total liquidation of all personal assets belonging to Daniel Mercer.

His vintage sports car collection was auctioned on the courthouse steps.

His designer watches and custom suits were sold to commercial liquidators.

His remaining founder stock in Mercer Dynamics—now stripped of all voting privileges—was surrendered back to the corporate treasury for a nominal buyout of zero dollars to offset his embezzlement liabilities.

Vanessa Cole entered a formal guilty plea to two counts of federal wire fraud to avoid a fifteen-year prison sentence.

She was sentenced to four years in federal prison at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, and ordered to pay $3.2 million in mandatory restitution.

As for Daniel:

He was sentenced to five years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release and five hundred hours of community service.
