Chapter 10 - Brianna’s Golden Parachute Catches Fire

As the legal net tightened around Daniel, the fragile alliance between him and his mistress collapsed into absolute warfare.
When the independent receiver, Marcus Vance, formally seized the keys to the Vista Ridge penthouse and terminated the lease under emergency powers granted by Judge Hartman, Brianna Hale found herself facing immediate eviction.
Worse, the receiver served Brianna with a formal demand letter requiring the immediate return of $176,000 in fraudulent transfers received by Hale Strategic Media LLC, along with the physical surrender of the Cartier diamond bracelet and the Porsche Macan.
At 2:00 PM on Friday, Brianna’s high-priced defense attorney contacted Rachel Monroe requesting an emergency proffer session.
Brianna arrived at Rachel’s office without her signature arrogance. She wore no makeup, her hair was pulled back into a hasty ponytail, and she was dressed in an oversized gray sweatshirt. She looked terrified, exhausted, and completely overwhelmed.
Across the conference table, her attorney laid out her position with brutal clarity: Brianna was willing to execute a full, sworn affidavit of confession detailing every asset Daniel had attempted to conceal through her accounts, in exchange for Rachel agreeing not to seek criminal contempt charges or civil asset conversion penalties against her personally.
“Daniel told me it was all legal,” Brianna sobbed, dabbing her eyes with a crumpled tissue. “He told me that Clara was an unstable ex-wife who had abandoned the business years ago. He said the consulting contracts were standard corporate tax write-offs designed by his wealth managers. He promised me that once the divorce was finalized, we would move to Miami and start a new development firm with the offshore funds.”
She handed over her personal laptop, her phone, and two signed title transfer forms for the Porsche and the jewelry.
“He never loved me,” Brianna whispered, staring at the polished mahogany table. “He just needed someone pretty to put on the corporate brochures and an outside bank account that didn't have his last name on it.”
Rachel reviewed the affidavit, made two pen corrections, and slid it back across the table.
“Sign on page twelve, Miss Hale,” Rachel said without a shred of sympathy. “Surrender the keys, the jewelry, and the bank authorizations to the receiver by five o'clock today. If you comply fully, we will not oppose your request for transactional immunity with the District Attorney’s office. If you hold back a single dollar, you will be named as a co-defendant in a federal racketeering lawsuit by Monday morning.”

Brianna signed the document with trembling fingers, handed over the keys to the Porsche, and walked out of the office with nothing more than her handbag.
The golden parachute had completely burned to ash.
