Chapter 6 - My Cousin Claimed I Was Lying, Until the Camera Revealed Her Secret

Livia arrived at the estate in a cream coat and enormous sunglasses.

She entered the drawing room as though she owned it.

“Bella, this has gone far enough.”

I stood beside the fireplace.

“Were you here yesterday?”

“No.”

Alessio placed a photograph on the table.

It showed her car at the service gate.

Livia's smile faltered.

“I dropped off a package.”

“For whom?”

“Marco.”

Marco stood near the door.

His face remained blank.

“What package?” Alessio asked.

“A gift,” she said.

“For a man you barely know?”

She looked toward me.

“Bella has always been jealous.”

The familiar accusation landed exactly where it used to.

For years, I had apologized whenever Livia said I was difficult.

This time I stayed quiet.

Alessio turned the laptop toward her.

The footage showed Livia meeting Marco beside the service entrance.

He handed her a small envelope.

She passed him a key card.

I recognized the card's black-and-gold design.

It belonged to the Bellamir Hotel.

Livia's voice sharpened.

“You don't understand the arrangements between our families.”

“Then explain them,” I said.

She laughed.

“You? You couldn't understand a seating chart.”

Alessio rolled forward.

“Speak to her respectfully.”

Livia looked stunned.

“You're choosing her?”

“I'm choosing the truth.”

Marco interrupted.

“The key card is mine. She was returning it.”

“Why?” Alessio asked.

Neither answered.

I took my father's letter from the folder.

“The loading platform was sabotaged. Did you know?”

Livia's eyes filled with tears.

For one hopeful second, I thought she felt ashamed.

Then she whispered, “Your father should have kept his mouth shut.”

The room went silent.

I could hear the clock ticking over the mantel.

“Say that again,” I said.

But she was already walking toward the door.
