Chapter 13 - The New Chapter (The End)

One year later.

The Grand Ballroom of the New York Public Library was illuminated by thousands of fairy lights and fragrant white roses for the wedding of the decade.

Over five hundred guests—foreign dignitaries, university presidents, top legal scholars, and close friends—gathered to celebrate our union. My mother walked down the aisle with a radiant smile on her face, healthy and joyful, wiping away happy tears.

As I walked toward Dominic in a custom-designed lace bridal gown, our eyes locked, filled with memories of the incredible journey that had brought us together. We had faced criminal syndicates, international conspiracies, life-threatening ambushes, and social cruelty—and our love had emerged victorious against every obstacle.

Following our marriage, Dominic and I established the Mary Miller Foundation, endowing over fifty million dollars in full scholarships for underprivileged students pursuing doctoral degrees in law and linguistics, while fully funding private dialysis and transplant centers across the Midwest.

As we danced our first dance as husband and wife beneath the grand vaulted ceilings of the library, Dominic leaned down and whispered into my ear.

“Do you remember what you told me that night at Maison Étoile when you circled that contract?”

I smiled up at my husband, resting my head against his heart.

“I said: ‘Actually, there is a problem.’”

Dominic laughed softly, kissing my forehead with infinite tenderness.

“And hiring you,” Dominic whispered, “was the greatest decision of my life.”
