Chapter 15 - A Crown Made of Gold

Six months later.
The spring sun shone brightly over the manicured gardens of the Sartori estate in Beacon Hill. The historic grounds were decorated with white silk canopies, blooming roses, and strings of warm fairy lights hanging from the century-old oak trees.
Sadie, completely healthy and full of boundless energy, ran across the green lawn chasing a golden retriever puppy that Emmet had bought for her eighth-and-a-half birthday. She was laughing, her cheeks rosy with vibrant life.
On the grand marble terrace overlooking the gardens, Noel stood wearing an exquisite, flowing emerald dress. She held a glass of champagne, watching her little sister run without once losing her breath.
Two strong arms slid around her waist from behind, pulling her back against a broad, familiar chest.
"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Chief Operating Officer?" Emmet murmured into her ear, resting his chin on her shoulder.
Noel smiled, leaning back against him, covering his hands with hers. "I was thinking about the gooseneck lamp on the kitchen counter. And the dry pasta."
Emmet chuckled softly, turning her around in his arms to face him. His eyes were bright, the dark shadows of his past completely gone, replaced by a radiant peace.
"That apartment is preserved," Emmet said softly. "I bought the entire building last month. It’s going to be converted into a community center for children with congenital heart conditions."
Noel’s eyes filled with happy tears. "You really are something else, Emmet Sartori."
"I am a man who spent three years in the dark until an archivist turned on the light," he replied tenderly.
From across the lawn, Sadie came sprinting up the terrace steps, holding something carefully in her hands.
"Noel! Emmet! Look!" Sadie shouted proudly.
She reached up and placed a newly crafted crown on Noel’s head. This time, it wasn't made of folded construction paper. It was a delicate, handcrafted tiara of spun gold, studded with tiny emeralds that matched Noel’s dress—a gift Emmet had commissioned for the occasion.
"It's not crooked this time," Sadie announced with a triumphant grin.
"It's perfect," Noel said, looking down at her sister with immense love, then up at the man who had risked everything to give them a tomorrow.
Emmet leaned down, pressing his lips to Noel’s in a deep, sweet, and everlasting kiss under the warm spring sun.
