Its board of directors was dismissed, and its corporate headquarters was repurposed into a center for human rights advocacy.
It was a poetic, definitive end to the company that had defined an era of unchecked greed. Eleanor watched as the iconic logo was removed from the side of the building—a cold, metal structure that had cast a shadow over the city for decades.
She stood on the sidewalk with Commander Vance, both of them watching the transition.
"It's finished," Vance said, his voice unusually soft.
"No," Eleanor replied. "It’s just beginning. The cleanup is going to take years. The legal battles are just starting. But the foundation is broken. They can't rebuild it the way it was."
